Advisory Board
Bruce Yarwood is Managing Director of Helmsin & Yarwood, a Washington, DC consulting firm. He is the legislative consultant to the American Healthcare Association, a trade group representing over 10,000 long-term care facilities in the U.S. Bruce was Operating Chief for Crestwood Hospitals, Inc., and Executive Vice President to the California Association of Health Facilities. Prior to that, Mr. Yarwood directed sizable portions of the California Department of Health, which included the largest state Medicaid program.
Bernard J. Gersh, M.B., Ch.B., D.Phil., is Chief of Cardiology at the Mayo Clinic. Previously, he was the Chief of Cardiology at Georgetown University Medical Center. He is the past Chair of the Council of Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association and served on the Board of Trustees of the American College of Cardiology. A former Rhodes scholar, Dr. Gersh is the author of 300 articles, 75 book chapters, and is the editor of 6 books on cardiology.
Larry Watson is the former Executive Director of the Center for Independent Living in Berkeley, one of the first disability rights organization in the world. While he is an attorney specializing in banking law, Larry remains one of the most prominent disability activists in the United States, working on issues ranging from the Americans with Disabilities Act, to employment and work incentives issues.
Jim Stearns is past president of United Cerebral Palsy. He remains prominently involved in media and political affairs for UCP. Mr. Stearns sits on the Board of Governors of BB&T Bank. He is an attorney in private practice in Washington DC.
S. Kimberly Belshé was the Director under Pete Wilson of the California Department of Health Services, which oversees Medi-Cal, among other programs. She is now a Fellow of the Irvine Foundation.
Mark B. Sandground is the managing partner of the law firm of Sandground, Barondess, West, & New in the Washington DC area. He is an experienced entrepreneur and investor with over 40 years of experience in the nation's capital. His significan Washington experience and connections have proved invaluable to the company.
Bill McCullough is a consultant to medical supply companies. Previously he was Director of Regional Operations for Beverly Enterprise's medical supply subsidiaries. Mr. McCullough founded and led two successful west coast medical supply companies, Berkeley Medical Supplies, and Western Rehab Systems, which were acquired by Shield Healthcare and Beverly Enterprises, respectively.
Arthur Combs, Ph.D, is president of Source Healthcare Systems. A former commodities broker, he holds a doctorate from the London School of Economics. He has been involved with disability affairs and the medical supply business since 1983. Mr. Combs serves on the boards of directors of the Center for Accessible Technology, the Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program, and the Ed Roberts Campus, a $30 million global center on disability being built in the San Francisco Bay Area.
